TeachEngineering Frequently Asked Questions What does it cost? Is there a fee? Use of curriculum found in the TeachEngineering collection is free to teachers using it in their classrooms. There is no fee. There is no membership requirement. There are no special kits or materials to buy. Is membershipt required? No. There is an optional MyTE workspace you may use to keep track of your favorite lessons and activities, or to submit reviews, but that's up to you to use or not. How do I get access? Just search and use! From TeachEngineering.org, click on Search Curriculum or Browse Curriculum to find what you want for your classroom from the 500+ lessons and activities (and growing all the time). Do the lessons and activities use everyday materials or kits? Our approach is "activities on a shoestring" - meaning that in almost all cases, our activities use ordinary materials that you can find in your classroom, school, home, grocery store or hardware store. There are exceptions, but a quick look at the Materials List will clarify the materials required. At the top of each activity, note the Expendable Cost per Group to get an estimate of what the materials might cost. Then scroll down to the Materials list to see a complete list of items. Is curriculum based on education standards? Yes. Every lesson and every activity is aligned to the science and math educational standards of the state in which it was first developed and classroom tested. From that information, we extrapolate to provide rough alignment to other state and national educational standards. If you are looking for lessons or activities to meet a certain standard, choose to Search Curriculum by educational standards. Will there be more stuff for high school? Yes! We're adding new lessons and activities all the time. So check back often. |
